Tim Ruddy – 1994 – 2003

It would be fitting to see Tim Bowens and Tim Ruddy both get their place on the Walk of Fame together. Bowens was drafted in the first round of the 1994 draft and Ruddy was taken in the 2nd round of the 1994 draft.

Ruddy’s career lasted until 2003 but he played and started in 140 of 156 games as the Dolphins center. He was consistently good and was equally impressive in run blocking as he was in pass blocking. Like Bowens he too spanned the era’s of three prominent Dolphins head coaches.

Consider that in 2002 and 2003 the Dolphins had one of the best running backs in team history, Ricky Williams who had joined the Dolphins via trade in 2002. With help from Tim Ruddy and his leadership on the offensive line from the center position, Williams rushed for 1,853 yards in his first season with Miami and 1,372 yard in his 2nd, Tim Ruddy’s last season with the Dolphins.

Tim Ruddy is a deserving name who has waited 15 years for recognition.
