Predicting the 2018 Miami Dolphins season week by week
Week 9: vs. NY Jets
The Dolphins have beat the Jets at home the last two seasons and I think they make it a third. Behind that dreadful offensive line, Darnold will be banged up by the halfway point of the season.
With the week and a half to prepare as well, this might be one of the blowouts that goes Miami’s way.
Prediction: Dolphins 31-10 (6-3)
Week 10: @ Green Bay Packers
When I saw this game on the schedule I nearly had the same reaction that I do for the game in New England … loss. Miami needs a lot to go their way to pull off the upset.
One of those things being the weather. With the game being on November 11, just pray for no snow Dolphins fans. A chilly day in the forties or fifties would be way better than a frigid two-degree afternoon at Lambeau.
I do think the slight psychological advantage Miami has is almost no one on the Dolphins roster has played at Green Bay. The last time Miami was there was 2010, a 23-20 victory in OT with Chad Henne under center.
Therefore, this is a little different from New England, where almost everyone walks in the stadium thinking, “I’ve never won here”. There are no bad memories in Green Bay.
That being said, I wouldn’t bet against Aaron Rodgers at home.
Prediction: Packers 34-21 (6-4)
Week 11: BYE WEEK
Week 12: @ Indianapolis Colts
This time it’s the Dolphins who get two weeks to prepare thanks to a much-needed bye week. This gives everyone a chance to get healthy and fully rested.
Being at Indianapolis means Miami avoids the cold as well because of the dome at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Obviously, the Colts are a way better team than they were in 2017 because Andrew Luck is back, but I don’t believe he will return to the top-10 quarterback that he was.
Also, Indianapolis plays four divisional games in five weeks with Miami sandwiched between the four. As much as they say they won’t be, the Colts could easily overlook the Dolphins.
Prediction: Dolphins 24-20 (7-4)
