Matt Burke

Matt Burke could be tied directly to Adam Gase. In other words, if Adam Gase comes out and says he won’t fire Burke, Gase may lose his job. If Gase says he wants to replace Burke then there is a better chance that Gase stays.

Truth be told, Matt Burke is not a good defensive coordinator and he can use all the excuses of injuries and youth that he wants to but one thing does not lie, his players are not ready to play and they don’t know where they are supposed to line up and that leads to not knowing their assignments.

I’m sorry but I will not buy into this being a boat of excuses. There is no way that 11 players are lost on defense simply because they are not talented enough or are making mistakes. Reshad Jones playing out of position in favor of T.J. McDonald makes no sense and it ‘s not just Jones.

Burke struggles with in-game adjustments and frankly it does not appear that his team is prepared for the game. They are wildly inconsistent. How can a defense play so well against a team like the Patriots one week and then fall asleep the following week to the Vikings? That is on the defensive coordinator.

Burke was a mistake from day one. He needed more time as an assistant before jumping into the DC spot. It was rumored that Gase wanted to hire the replacement for Vance Joseph from outside but Ross told him no and to promote from within. Hard to say that is true or not but if it were true that too should factor into the future of Gase.

Regardless Burke should not be employed by Miami after the final game next weekend.

Will he leave?

There is virtually no reason that can be given for Burke to be retained. The chances of him staying should be around 20/80.
