Miami Dolphins ten best players of the last decade
By Brian Miller
Mike Pouncey
Drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Pouncey immediately started the shortened ‘strike-shortened’ off-season. In his first two seasons, Pouncey played in all 16 games and then appeared in 14 his third season as injuries began to creep upon him.
In his final season with the Dolphins, 2017, Pouncey played all 16 games for the first time since his second season in the league. He made the Pro Bowl three times for the Dolphins and made another appearance the year after he left the Dolphins for the Chargers.
Pouncey was dominant on the interior offensive line and often masked the issues at guard around him. In 2014, he started the season injured and returned to play right guard for the year as the Dolphins had signed former draft pick Samson Satele to play center while Pouncey was out. Pouncey’s play that season at guard earned him a Pro Bowl birth.
In 2017, the Dolphins met with Pouncey about taking a pay cut. Pouncey wanted a raise and the two sides opted for a mutual departure ahead of free agency.
