Miami Dolphins five best draft picks of the last decade
By Nick Belotto
Reshad Jones, 2010 NFL Draft, Round 5, Pick 163. Career stats: 749 TCK 10.5 SCK, 21 INT, 2 Pro Bowls
One of the best players Miami has had over the last decade, Jones has been a fan favorite and has been deserving of significantly more national media attention than he has received. His numbers have been great, especially when he was selected to be a Pro Bowler for this team.
He was never the best coverage safety but he always seemed to make big plays and deliver big hits on anyone on the offensive side of the ball. Injuries, however, have made it hard for Jones to get on the field over the last few seasons and his impact has been missed.
I made a comment earlier in this piece that GM’s love to find a quality player capable of pro bowl production in the second round. To find it in the 5th is easily considered a steal. At 31 years old, Jones is definitely on the back 9 of his career, but if he can get, and stay, healthy, he could continue to make an impact on the field for the next few years.
