Keim’s 2020 seven round Miami Dolphins mock draft
By George Keim
Round 5 – (168 overall) – Christian Rector, EDGE, USC – Not only is finding a pass rush critical for the Dolphins so is finding an edge setting DE against the run. So with their first pick of the 5th round, the Phins grab another edge player. Rector is 6’4” 275 lbs and has shown an ability to hold the edge in the running game. He’s raw as a pass rusher but has shown some of the skills needed to be effective. (Alternate Pick – Labryan Ray, DL, Alabama)
Round 5 – (178 overall) – Sadarius Hutcherson, G, South Carolina – The Dolphins go back to the offensive line drafting another guard. Hutcherson is another athletic “freak”. At 6’4” and 320 lbs. Hutcherson has been measured to have a 31.5” vertical leap. He’s also a monster in the weight room, benching more than 500 lbs and squatting 650 lbs. Hutcherson has all the makings of a road grader to help boost the Dolphins running game. (Alternate Pick – Patrick Nelson, S, SMU)
Round 5 – (181 overall) – Richie Grant, S, UCF – The knock on Grant is that he lacks speed. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in anticipation and smarts. His first year as a starter at UCF, Grant recorded 108 tackles, 6 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. He has a reputation for always being around the ball. This could be the type of guy that excels in Flores’ defense. (Alternate Pick – Saahdiq Charles, OT, LSU)
