Keim’s 2020 seven round Miami Dolphins mock draft
By George Keim
Round 6 – (184 overall) – Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas – Miami has a pretty good group of receivers but it never hurts to add more talent. Duvernay doesn’t have the prototypical size (5’11” 210 lbs.) but he’s a catch machine. In 12 games in 2019, Duvernay finished with 103 receptions for 1294 yards and 8 touchdowns for the Longhorns. (Alternate Pick – Gabriel Davis, WR, UCF)
Round 6 – (202 overall) – Tuf Borland, LB, Ohio State – Who doesn’t want a linebacker on the team named Tuf? Borland is another guy that doesn’t jump off the page in measurables. At 6’1” and 231 lbs. he’s undersized for an NFL linebacker, but he’s been described as “tough as nails”. Again he’s a guy who relies on instincts rather than athletic ability. Borland averaged 6 tackles a game at Ohio State. A special teams player to start could grow into a defensive role player. (Alternate Pick – Tuf Borland, LB, Ohio State)
Round 6 – (210 overall) – Jake Hanson, C, Oregon – Once again the Dolphins to back to the offensive line, a complete makeover. Hanson has been lauded for hand placement and overall technique as well as his ability to communicate protections and audibles. Obviously Hanson looks to come in as a back-up player taking over eventually as the center of the future. (Alternate Pick – Jake Hanson, C, Oregon)
Round 7 – (242 overall) – Juwan Jones, DL, Western Kentucky – The Dolphins round out their draft with defensive line depth. In 2 years at WKU Jones compiled 11 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss. Jones will look to fill a practice squad role but with some experience and NFL coaching could become a rotational asset. (Alternate Pick – Bryce Huff, EDGE, Memphis)
