Brian Flores

The hiring of Brian Flores was pretty seamless. The Dolphins identified him early as their head coach and then waited for the Patriots to finish the 2018 season so they could hire him. Like his predecessors, Flores has shown positive signs as he heads out of his first season and into his future but where that future takes him, is up to him.

Unlike his predecessors, Flores will have a say in his future quarterback and has no salary cap to deal with and a plethora of draft picks to continue to build his roster. The key will be how well he and Chris Grier work together and how successful they are in identifying and developing talent.

How long Flores lasts in Miami will depend solely on the win column. He will get a pass in 2020 but 2021 will be his defining season. Without visual progress by the team in terms of wins and losses, Flores’ future may only last two years into the next decade, if done right, we will be talking about him when the decade changes again.
