The restricted free agent list is a bit smaller than the previous one but has a few names Miami should consider bringing back going into 2020. As a reminder, restricted free agents are a bit different than un-restricted, as they can sign an offer sheet from any team and the Dolphins would have some time to decide whether or not they want to match. Away we go!

Adrian Colbert

Colbert played decently well coming over to the Dolphins in November from San Francisco. The 26-year-old is not going to be a star but has proved he could play in the NFL. His status is really dependent on what happens with Reshad Jones going forward. If he is cut, which is possible, Colbert presents himself as a stop-gap who can start for a little while, or provide a serviceable backup option. Regardless of if he starts or not, Colbert could add depth to the safety spot.

Verdict: He should stay

Vince Biegel

Vince Biegel was a lot of fun to watch in 2020. Coming over in the trade that sent Kiko Alonso to New Orleans, Biegel played a lot more than anybody expected. He ended the year with 2.5 sacks, which isn’t anything to get excited about. Yet, I think bringing Biegel back would be good for this team. He is not going to be a star in Miami. But, for a team that needs pass rush help in every single way, Biegel could serve as a solid backup.

Verdict: He should stay

Deon Lacey

Lacey seemed like a depth move when he was claimed off waivers and didn’t do anything in the season to prove that assumption wrong. Lacey did next to nothing in the 2019 campaign and should be looking elsewhere for a job in 2020.

Verdict: He should go

Chase Allen

Allen has been a solid backup for this team for the last few seasons. He can’t seem to stay healthy, though, and for a linebacker that is concerning. I think he presents enough upside to get a deal from the Dolphins, but it can’t be an expensive one for a guy who can’t play a full season.

Verdict: He should stay

Matt Haack

One of the heroes of the famed “Mountaineer Shot,” Haack has been a great player for the Dolphins since he came to the team. He has consistently kept the team in some of their close games and, as far as I’m concerned, as being one of the top players on this squad the last two seasons. The issue comes from his positioning. He’s still young, so he may not get a huge deal from someone else, but money should be the deciding factor on his deal in Miami. The Dolphins have a lot of cap space, but I don’t know how much of that should be spent on a punter. That being said, I would like to see Haack back on the team for more special plays in 2020.

Verdict: He should stay
