Matt Breida and Jordan Howard could be the best Miami Dolphins running back duo since Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown.

There is an excitement growing over the Dolphins running back unit where Jordan Howard and Matt Breida could be an electric duo for the offense. Running behind a revamped, albeit unproven offensive line, both runners bring a different skill set that should give Miami better offensive opportunities.

Last year, no team worried about Miami’s running game and while they didn’t really worry about the Dolphins passing game too much either, this year they should. The Dolphins can hit you through the air with DeVante Parker and Preston Williams or on the ground with a punishing Howard or a speedy Breida.

Execution will be a big part of the Dolphins progression because if they can not execute their assignments, it won’t matter how good a receiver or running back could be, teams won’t need to be concerned about facing an inconsistent offense.

The good news is we are not talking about some young rookies hitting the running lanes. We are talking about two veterans who are pretty good at their jobs but haven’t really been used to their potential. This circles back to Brian Flores, again, and his ability to get these players in the right positions going in the right direction.

Needless to say, there is a lot to be excited about in 2020 and this should be the building block season for years to come as it will set the tone, culture, respect, and discipline that winning teams display year in and year out.
