Salvon Ahmed

The Miami Dolphins were smart to add Salvon Ahmed and he is making an impact.

The Dolphins coaches were confident in what they saw the week before from the undrafted rookie that they kept Jordan Howard inactive once again. Miami turned the offensive rushing attack over to Ahmed and the young runner sent a big message to the coaching staff and injured Myles Gaskin. “I’m here to play”. No that’s not his quote but it was definitely his play.

Ahmed came close to the 100-yard rushing mark and would have become the first running back to hit 100 since Kalen Ballage two years ago. He was, at one point, nine yards shy before the Dolphins went into run out the clock mode and he lost six yards leaving his total at 85.

While Ahmed didn’t hit the mark statistically, he ran with conviction from the first time he touched the ball. Ahmed has a great burst and is decisive. There is no hesitation in the backfield and he takes the hole immediately.

Ahmed is turning into a solid pick-up and should continue to see his role increase even with the addition of DeAndre Washington. It will be interesting to see what will happen when Myles Gaskin comes back.
