player. 840. . Tight end. Gators . Kyle Pitts. 6

Okay, yes, I know this was not a surprise. If you have been reading my work or follow me on Twitter, you know that I am the conductor of the Kyle Pitts to Miami train and just the Pitts train in general.

I have Pitts as the No. 1 player in the 2021 NFL Draft, and I have truly never evaluated a tight end prospect that was this good. One of the best follows on Dolphins’ Twitter, Sordi (@FinsorDie), told me I need to spice it up a little and mock someone else to Miami in one of his recent episodes of Fins or Die, but I just can’t do it. I am too far gone on the Pitts train, and I genuinely believe he would change the Dolphins’ franchise if they draft him.

Pitts would be incredible in Miami’s heavy 12 personnel, which they ran the fifth most of in 2021. Pairing Pitts with current tight end Mike Gesicki would give the Dolphins a deadly combo at tight end. Defenses would not know how to defend Miami, and adding Pitts would elevate everyone on the field with him.

Miami may elect to go with Penei Sewell, DeVonta Smith, or even Ja’Marr Chase here, but I think all of those players are one step below Pitts. They are all great in their own ways, but Pitts is just too incredible to pass up.

I would be upset if Pitts goes at pick 4 to the Atlanta Falcons or pick 5 to the Cincinnati Bengals, and I think the Dolphins would too. If Pitts is there at pick 6, Miami needs to draft him.
