Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is not a need. As I addressed in my last piece when I wrote about Micah Parsons at 6, Miami does not need any immediate help at inside linebacker at the moment.

But, Owusu-Koramoah might be a stud in a Brian Flores defense. And he is one of my favorite players in this draft.

Owusu-Koramoah is an exceptionally athletic prospect, who seems to have a nose for the football and a motor that should appeal to Flores and help sure up the middle of the defense. There are a few question marks regarding his size, as many critics argue that he will need to bulk up a bit to compete against NFL linemen. I think those are fair concerns, but shouldn’t overshadow his incredible potential. Plus, Miami has had some success with undersized linebackers in their history (looking at you, Zach Thomas).

Owusu-Koramoah is explosive on the football field and has demonstrated great speed and athleticism for someone at his position. He has the ability to play all over the field, which should help him see the field early and often in his rookie season. He could be an immediate upgrade over Miami’s current inside linebackers and has the potential to be a perennial Pro-Bowler in Brian Flores’ system.
