RB Salvon Ahmed

Just like Needham, Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed was a pleasant surprise. The Dolphins have a filled-up running back room, and it has been unknown which running back will become the Alpha in the room.

Ahmed currently has the lead in the clubhouse after the first preseason game and heading into the second one.

Ahmed, an undrafted free agent last season, ended up starting four games last season for Miami. In 2020, Ahmed ended the season with an impressive 319 rushing yards and three scores, despite only starting those four games and playing in six total.

Running back Myles Gaskin was supposed the RB1 this season, but free-agent signing Malcolm Brown got the start in Week 1. However, Brown struggled, and it was clear Miami needed to give reps to someone else.

Ahmed did not waste his reps. He actually looked really, really good. Ahmed ended the day with six carries for 40 yards, which was the leading rusher for Miami. Ahmed also caught two passes for 31 yards and an excellent wheel route for a 23-yard touchdown.

Miami will likely still be looking to add another running back, but Ahmed cemented himself as one of the running backs in their running back by committee approach.
