Tua Tagovailoa Report Card: Final Grade vs. Atlanta Falcons

Tua Tagovailoa only played in the first half of Miami’s second preseason game, but man, it was an impressive first half. You could tell that Tagovailoa was in the zone all game, and he was delivering strikes.

My favorite play of his was the touchdown pass to Gaskin. It may be a simple play in some fan’s eyes, but the way Tagovailoa navigated around the pocket and then threw a perfect ball to Gaskin was awesome. Fans should be really pumped up about that play because you can see that Tagovailoa is healthy and ready to go.

I loved that Miami showed Tagovailoa, and the Dolphins offense will hit some RPO’s on you. It may be preseason, but to see plays like that is great because Tagovailoa excels at making the right read and making it quickly.

The offensive line had the one bad play where Tagovailoa was sacked, but they helped protect him and allowed him to make plays. However, it did not really matter because Tagovailoa was getting the ball out so quickly and confidently; he was helping the offensive line look even better.

We likely will not see Tagovailoa again until Week 1 of the regular season, but I think this was more than promising for fans to see.

Tagovailoa final stats: 16/23 183 yards and 1 TD (1 rush for 8 yards)

FINAL GRADE: A+

FINAL GRADE EXPLANATION: Tagovailoa earned this A+. He was making plays and showing he is Miami’s franchise quarterback. Listen, I know it is preseason, but Tagovailoa was dominant, and that is what you want to see. He has some throws he will want back, but that is football. Tagovailoa was awesome on Saturday night.
