RB Patrick Laird

While Myles Gaskin, Malcolm Brown, and Salvon Ahmed have all shined, one running back has been falling down the depth chart.

That running back is Patrick Laird.

Laird is listed as the Miami Dolphins No. 4 running back on their team depth chart, but Laird received the least amount of carries out of the running backs. The five running backs ahead of him all look like they have a better chance to make the roster, as Miami’s game flow would show that Laird may actually be the No. 6 running back.

Laird had one carry for two yards in the game, which does not bode well for him.

He will likely have one more big opportunity to make the roster in the final preseason game. Miami will likely keep four running backs, and the first three spots are locked in with Gaskin, Ahmed, and Brown.

That leaves Laird, Jordan Scarlett, and seventh-round pick Gerrid Doaks to battle for the spot.

Doaks saw his stock falling last week, but he bounced back with seven carries for 30 yards. Scarlett had five carries for 22 yards. Time will tell who earns the final roster spot, but Laird’s stock is falling for sure.
