Miami Dolphins lose to New England in week one Madden simulation
By Nick Belotto
At the end of the third quarter: Miami 10, New England 16
Miami starts the quarter with the ball and the hopes of getting this offense going. And yet, they do not.
Miami gets a couple of decent short gains by Myles Gaskin who has been incredibly quiet in this one but then ends up with more throw-aways that get the team into more punting situations. Oh, boy.
New England doesn’t look much better at this point, with the Dolphin’s defense able to make Jones look like the rookie that he is. Miami forces the Patriots to punt, giving the ball to Miami with a little less than 10 minutes on the clock.
The offense, which has looked bad all through this simulation graduates to “putrid” as the team is unable to do anything, once again, to get the ball even into a scoring situation. It’s a poor offense on the other side of the ball, too, as Mac Jones seems to cool off, throwing two incompletions after poor runs by Damien Harris.
I apologize for the repetitiveness, but this is what the game is giving me. Miami’s punts again.
This punt ends up pinning the Patriots on their own 2-yard line. They end up going with a run up the middle to try and get them a little cushion from the end zone, but Raekwon Davis blows the play up in the backfield and Miami gets the safety! The offense may not be ready to go, but this defense is fired up.
Miami ends up with the ball after the safety with a ton of momentum. Tagovailoa ends up bringing the Dolphins within field goal range and then the offense proceeds to blow it. Miami is forced to settle for a field goal (questionable at this point) and try their luck at an onside kick.
With less than two minutes on the clock, Miami’s onside kick attempt flops and New England is able to run the clock out sealing a Miami defeat in their opening game of the season.
At the end of the fourth quarter: Miami 15, New England 16
2020 Madden season record: 0-1
Miami’s offense was less than stellar in this one. They were unable to get anything going at all and were only able to secure a few field goals here and there.
I don’t expect the same struggles from the team going into Sunday. I think the defense will play just about as well as the simulation…simulated, but the offense will be able to be more efficient, especially on the ground.
My game prediction: Miami 28, New England 17
