Miami Dolphins week one defensive power rankings

Christian Wilkins’ importance to this Dolphins defense is mainly as a run stopper, but his ability to take blockers will make life easier for pass rushers and other interior defensive linemen.
Since being drafted in the first round out of Clemson in 2019, Wilkins has been a key piece of Brian Flores’ defense as well as becoming a leader in the locker room. With the growth of Raekwon Davis and Andrew Van Ginkel, the Dolphins front-seven has built its way around Wilkins.
With what many expect to be a better secondary for the Dolphins in 2021, the front-seven should be expected to get after the quarterback more often, including Wilkins.
Jerome Baker’s hard work led to the Dolphins signing him to a three-year extension this past off-season.
Baker’s ability to rusher the quarterback, play the run, and cover both in man and zone. Baker has shown he can be the ideal linebacker in Brian Flores’ defensive scheme.
The Dolphins will hope that Baker can take that next step from a good linebacker to a pro-bowl linebacker.
