Kansas City pairs Chris Jones with 30th overall pick Texas A&M IDL DeMarvin Leal

Pick Analysis. IDL. DeMarvinLeal. 124. Scouting Report. Texas A&M. 30. player

The Kansas City Chiefs will face a difficult off-season due to their pending cap restrictions. As of right now, the Chiefs will head into the off-season with about $4 million in cap space and Pro-Bowl safety Tyran Mathieu set to hit free agency.

Mathieu likely won’t be able to be brought back, so that will open up a hole for a team that already struggled mightily on defense. Safety may not be the best option for the Chiefs here but defense sure is.

Texas A&M defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal should be an immediate impact player alongside All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones. At one time, Leal was considered a top ten player in this draft class. He stumbled a bit but still finds himself in the first round.

The dynamic defensive lineman would be a welcome addition, especially after the Chief’s defensive line failed to take advantage of the Bengals’ weak offensive line, we’ll get to that next.

The Chiefs already feature one of the league’s most high-powered offenses centered around quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but their defense hurt them at times. Leal would compliment Jones and hopefully give the Chiefs an interior defensive lineman one-two punch that’s tough to contain.
