Miami Dolphins storylines Weeks 3 & 4

Week 3: vs. Bills

The Dolphins’ first meeting with the Bills will come at home on September 25th and will be the first true test for Miami against the elite team in the division.

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills have been Dolphin killers over the last four years, as Miami hasn’t been victorious in the matchup since 2018. But they will look to turn the tide in 2022 with a revamped offense and new coaching staff at the helm, and they’ll get a chance to do so early on. If the Dolphins wish to be competitive in any respect in the AFC East, they’ll have to figure out how to beat the Bills regularly.

The second meeting between the two teams won’t come until Week 15 in Buffalo, which may end up being the biggest game of the season for one or both of them.

Week 4: @ Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals surprised everyone last season when second-year quarterback Joe Burrow was able to lead the team all the way to the Super Bowl. They came up short against the Los Angeles Rams, but they look to have a solid foundation of players for the future.

The Miami Dolphins will travel to southwest Ohio for their final September game on Thursday, September 29th. It will be the first night contest for either of the teams, and the first prime time match-up for the two since the memorable Cameron Wake sack on Andy Dalton on Halloween 2013.

It will be the first meeting between Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa, two quarterbacks that will be forever linked due to their draft positions. The Bengals will undoubtedly be favored, and it looks to be the toughest of Miami’s first four games outside of the Bills match-up. There is always the threat of a serious let-down from the loser of the previous Super Bowl, and the Dolphins will look to capitalize if that is the case.
