Miami Dolphins storylines Weeks 9 & 10

Week 9: @ Bears

There may not be any bigger storyline for this particular match-up than it simply being a golden opportunity for Miami to pick up a victory. While there are no “easy” games in the NFL, the Dolphins and the Bears appear to be two teams headed in opposite directions, the latter of which might have one of the more lackluster rosters in the league.

Second-year quarterback Justin Fields has a lot to prove for Chicago, a franchise that has been yearning for a legit signal-caller for decades.  The Dolphins’ defense will be prepared, and Fields could have one of the more difficult days of his season going up against Xavien Howard and company.

Week 10: vs. Browns

It remains to be seen which quarterback the Dolphins will play against during their Week 10 match up with the Cleveland Browns, but both have a history with Miami, for better or for worse.

The Deshaun Watson legal saga is still ongoing, and a hefty suspension could be in store for the former Houston Texans quarterback and $230 million man. Depending on when hearings and trials wrap up, that suspension could come at any given point in the Browns’ season. If he does play, Dolphins fans will get a chance to see the player that they “missed out” on during the flirting period between both sides during the 2021 season, and many of us hope that Miami’s defense can make him look pedestrian.

If he doesn’t play, they’ll see a familiar face under center in Jacoby Brissett. Brissett signed with Cleveland to be their backup quarterback for the upcoming season, a role he played last year in Miami. He started a few games for the Dolphins in lieu of Tagovailoa, and success did not follow. If he is the one starting for the Browns, then look for Miami to pick up what would be a huge home victory going into the bye week.
