Miami Dolphins storylines Weeks 12 & 13

Week 12: vs. Texans

At some point this season when you are watching Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle torch opposing defenses, or when you see Jevon Holland making big hits while patrolling the defensive backfield, you can remember to thank Bill O’Brian and the Houston Texans.

We’ve heard the story a million times now about the Laremy Tunsil trade, but now it is time to see the fruits of general manager Chris Grier’s labor finally come to fruition. There aren’t a lot of current storylines between the two teams, given that Miami hopes to be on a quick ascension while Houston rebuilds slowly, which are both byproducts of the now-infamous trade.

Week 13: @ 49ers

The storylines and implications around this one are obvious. The Dolphins will travel to the West Coast for a double-dip against California teams, with the first being against the 49ers.

Miami’s new head coach Mike McDaniel spent the last handful of seasons in San Francisco and even longer under the tutelage of Kyle Shanahan. It will be his first game against his old team, and a chance to prove that he belongs in the league after leaving the nest. It will also be a return game for Raheem Mostert, who should play a big part in the Dolphins’ offense if he is able to maintain his health.

To add to the intrigue, Miami holds the rights to San Francisco’s first-round pick in 2023, making a victory even more important for the Dolphins.
