Miami Dolphins: Is Mike McDaniel just as stubborn as Brian Flores?

I mean good lord, Mike McDaniel was playing with two backup QBs and still threw the ball 40 times vs New England in week 17. The Patriots have the 8th-ranked run defense and that kept the Dolphins to a 3.1 YPC average but with just 24 rushes you can’t expect to find a break for big yardage.

Once again McDaniel looked undercooked as an HC in situational football moments. Except for the challenge he made on a pass down the sideline that should have been incomplete, but the refs refused to overturn it. even though the call was clear.

I think Brian Flores was the more complete HC, but I still think Mike McDaniel has a higher ceiling and the Dolphins should not give up on him. But McDaniel refuses to adapt and that was one of Brian Flores’ most crippling flaws.

Will Mike McDaniel be able to turn it around, or will the ship crash and burn with 6 straight losses to end the season after failing to adapt for week 18?

I was one of the first people that wanted Mike McDaniel to be hired over names like Brian Daboll, Jim Harbaugh, and Kellen Moore. His creativity, play design, and “run game guru” traits sold me, and we have seen flashes of it in 2022.

However we have not seen the run game have any consistency, and that was supposed to be Mike McDaniel’s specialty. On top of that, he is showing a crippling flaw that was one of the main factors in Brian Flores’ downfall, and that is being too dang stubborn.
