Free agent quarterback market and the Miami Dolphins
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins’ best options are younger guys with experience and upside that still have the potential for a little growth.
Gardner Minshew isn’t going to win over any fans but the guy can still play and he brings excitement to the field. The players will follow him because he plays with such exuberance.
Minshew is the opposite of Bridgewater. He is a rah-rah type of player and genuinely comes across as loving the game of football. Behind Tua, he is likely to see some work but more importantly, when he has to take the field, he will be excited to do so.
At 26 years old, Minshew has enough starting experience to make him a viable option. He will come off a season as a backup in Philadelphia and while he isn’t going to light the scoreboard up, in Mike McDaniel’s offense, he is the type of QB that will sling it and take some chances. Something Bridgewater didn’t do and Skylar Thompson couldn’t do.
Is Minshew ideal? Of course not, but Miami is looking for someone who can step on the field if needed and he can do that and potentially caretake a game or two. Minshew at his best is a QB who may not win you a game, but he won’t lose it either.
