Well turns out, Vic Fangio will be the next defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins. I realize I wrote yesterday that the Miami Dolphins should slam the door on Vic Fangio after the whole accepting the position and still being linked to the 49ers and the Broncos coordinator positions. I still stand by that although I should have added in the article that if Vic Fangio ends up actually being the Dolphin’s defensive coordinator I will get over it in 11 minutes. I’m here to tell you that I got over Fangio’s alleged transgressions in 92 seconds. Credit to me for not dwelling.

Now that we’re pretty sure that Vic Fangio is coming to the Dolphins, we can think about how he will improve a defense that ranked 27th in pass defense and 24th in 3rd down defense. We can start feeling confident that when it’s 3rd and 18 from the 17-yard line that he won’t have the entire defense lined up at the one yard-line. We can feel good about when it’s 3rd and 17 that the defense won’t allow the easiest passes over the middle for 19 yards. Who among us can’t wait to witness defensive backs up on receivers on 3rd and 3? These are all thoughts that are healthy to have now.

Also, and this is the part I think will be the most underrated aspect of Vic Fangio being in Miami, is that he can assist Mike McDaniel with experienced preparation leading into Sundays and can provide solid perspective during the game in big moments. I like the idea of McDaniel running things past Vic Fangio in those big moments just to see what he thinks about the situation.

Today is a great day for Miami Dolphins fans. Miami got one of the most revered defensive coaches in the game and he gets to work with some excellent young talent along with a few key veterans. Sure, the defense will have some different guys in there but I expect the core guys to still be there(they better sign Christian Wilkins). With Adam Schefter saying he spoke to Fangio and that he said he’s coming to Miami but he won’t announce it until after the Super Bowl due to being a consultant with the Eagles, I feel confident that it is really happening. I’m confident in telling you that you don’t have to keep refreshing Twitter to see where Vic Fangio lands. He’s coming to Miami and that’s all that matter now.

By the Way- If you think may have overreacted yesterday with the article I wrote, maybe you’re right. But let’s not act like he didn’t accept the Dolphin’s position and then went and started talking to another team.

All water under the bridge. I’ll make sure I apologize to Vic Fangio when I eventually run into him at The Roosevelt Beer Garden. It’s a NEPA/570 thing.
