The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off their Super Bowl parade, yet at least one national expert analyst predicts a Miami Dolphins championship next season.

This week, ESPN listed its writer’s early Super Bowl LVIII picks, polling 10 of the outlet’s online contributors. One of them chose to throw a Hail Mary and place their faith in the aqua and orange, the Miami Dolphins, beating a returning big game contestant.

"Seth Walder, sports analytics writer: Dolphins over Eagles. When the Dolphins had Tua Tagovailoa on the field this season, they generated 0.13 expected points added per play — slightly better than the Bills did with Josh Allen on the field (0.12). Now they added Vic Fangio to fix a defense that already has some star power on it? Sign me up."

It’s important to note that four of the writers predicted the Chiefs to win back-to-back titles, three selected the Bengals to win the title in Las Vegas, with the Eagles, 49ers, and Dolphins each garnering one selection.

There’s not much surprise that Miami continues to see national-level expectations, albeit mainly with the caveat of Tua Tagovailoa remaining healthy for an entire season.

The Dolphins officially announced hiring Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator after reportedly reaching an agreement with him last month.

There expects to be plenty of change and contract restructuring as the NFL free agency period begins March 15th, especially on the defensive side of the ball and at tight end.

The team is also preparing for the April NFL Draft, in which they own a second-round pick, two third-round choices (one via New England from the DeVante Parker trade), a sixth-rounder via Chicago (acquired in the Jakeem Grant trade), and their seventh-rounder.
