The Miami Dolphins don’t need to do too much at safety but they could target someone who better fits the vision of Vic Fangio.

Miami will see the return of Jevon Holland and a return of Brandon Jones from injury. Eric Rowe will likely be out as he is a free agent and not likely to be re-signed. Clayton Fejedelem is also a free agent but his value has been on special teams. If Miami wants to upgrade the position and give Holland someone new, Jordan Poyer makes a lot of sense.

Poyer would be a solid addition that also makes the Bills a little weaker but he will be expensive and the Dolphins do have Jones coming back. This is a Vic Fangio type of move if we are being honest, but yes, Poyer would make Miami’s secondary very good.

Poyer is on the other side of 30 but is coming off a Pro Bowl season. The Dolphins could target higher and go for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson of the Eagles. CGJ is a very good talent but will likely be way out of Miami’s price range, expected to be well over the $10-12 Million mark.

Poyer adds a playmaker that fits into a scheme that utilizes the safeties deep and that could be a top addition for Miami if they could swing it. The question is whether or not Chris Grier and company put that kind of value on the position.
