"Chad Johnson To Miami" Rumor Squashed, Or Is It?

AUTHOR: tedhill | IN: Dolphins, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

There has been a rumor floating around for quite some time now that Chad Johnson is looking to be traded and that one team that he would deem an appropriate destination is the Miami Dolphins. In fact, earlier this week we posted video of Chad talking to some reporters and being asked if he would welcome a trade to the ‘Phins. He said he would and urged Bill Parcells to “call him and quit playing around.” How sincere his answer is only Chad knows.
Yesterday he appeared on The Mike Tirico Show on ESPN. I actually thought he was well spoken [...]

Vintage 13, What a Wonderful Year

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino has partnered with Charity Wines to provide a special wine of which 70 percent of the non-taxable proceeds go to the Dan Marino Foundation.  These wines are called Vintage 13.  Dan Marino will receive no monetary gain himself for the sale of the product.
You can order 6 bottles of the wine to be shipped to your home from the company directly, however, not all states are available to be shipped to, due to those states alcohol shipping laws.  However, you should be able to speak to your local distributor and order [...]

PATRIOTS WIN! 19-0

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Does that make you sick?  Me too, but according to the Boston Globe, they already won the Super Bowl, and even are now taking pre-orders for ”19-0: The Historic Championship Season of New Englands’ Unbeatable Patriots“ on Amazon.com.  That’s right, they have alreadly written a book about them.
The Globe of course already knows the outcome as I am sure they have paid off the refs to insure a victory so a piece of their wonderful historic run will forever be preserved in their book.  Ahhhh, the Boston Globe.  What a totally wonderful and objective news agency.  Of course it makes sense, they [...]

Phins Hire 5…But No OC

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Miami Dolphins hired 5 coaches today, but they still no offensive coordinator.  The Phins named John Bonamego as their special teams coordinator, George DeLeone as their tight ends coach, David Puloka as assistant
strength and conditioning coach, Jim Reid as outside linebackers coach and Steve Bush as offensive quality control coach.
With the coaching staff one short of complete, the overall thoughts turn to who will run the offense.  The rumors have flown since before Tony Sparano was hired as the HC.  The logical choice has always been Sparano mentor Chris Palmer, that was put on the back burner when the Giants [...]

Potential Surprise: 'Phins To Draft Sedrick Ellis?

AUTHOR: tedhill | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

With the Senior Bowl week behind us, we can now take a look at a player or two who really improved their draft stock. The one most people are talking about is Sedrick Ellis, the defensive tackle from USC.
Before the Senior Bowl, Sedrick Ellis was widely believed to be a certain top ten pick and would most likely be selectd in the 4th-7th range. I considered him to be the Dolphins biggest target in the event of trading out of the number one spot but remaining towards the top of the draft. I thought if we could pull that off, [...]

A Rumor That Just Won't Die

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins, Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Say what you want, it’s complete BS, it’s definately going to happen, hell you can even say, “You really need to stop smoking that stuff with Ricky“, but this rumor just won’t die.
We reported along with Dan over at TheLandryHat, that something is in the works between the Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys regarding the number 1 overall pick.  Now, it appears that either ESPNs’ Chris Mortenson has caught wind of something himself, or he finally decided to read our blog.  Either way, he too is reporting that something is going on and that RB Marion Barber is a [...]

Chad Johnson Wants To Dance For The Tuna

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It doesn’t get any clearer than this.  After playing in front of his hometown in the final week of the regular season, Bengal star WR Chad Johnson toned down his touchdown celebration antics in the game, perhaps because new Miami Dolphins VP of Football Operations Bill Parcells was watching.  It led to speculation that Johnson wants a trade to the Dolphins.  Well that speculation has officially ended, as Johnson has made his intentions completely known.

Guest Writer Takes A Look At The Senior Bowl

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

One of our first regular readers Shane, has written a nice take on his view of this weekends Senior Bowl.  I sent out a request through our Phinphanatic Email group for an opinion on the players that stood out and disappointed.  Here are his thoughts.
The North dominated the game, but Lane Kiffin decided to go for it on 4th and 1 instead of a FG to go up by 9. They didn’t get it and the South marched down the field and scored a TD with the XP to win.
There were a few players that really stood out to me [...]

Good-Bye Orange Bowl

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes have played their last game in the Orange Bowl.  The 70 year old land mark that served as home to both teams until 1987 closed out its final game on Saturday…a flag football game between the great Hurrican alumni and the Miami Dolphins greats.  The Hurricanes would win, but it really wasn’t about winning as much as it was about saying good-bye.
I was lucky to have lived in Miami a short while, way back when, I was born across the street from the Bowl…again even “wayer” back when…yes, I realize that’s not really [...]

Ireland and Co. Finish Senior Bowl Week. Head Home

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Over 100 potential NFL rookies were interviewed by Jeff Ireland and his scouting staff and select coaches.  With the Senior Bowl practices wrapped, Ireland and Co. have finished the week and headed home.  They will watch the game on TV like the rest of us.
David Lee spent time breaking down the mechanics of the QB’s he saw, Matt Ryan was not one of them, but according to one local Miami reporter, the staff like what they see in Delawares’ Joe Flacco and Josh David Booty out of USC….a lot.
One potential draft pick out of LSU told a reporter that the [...]

Jason Taylor Pulls Out of Pro-Bowl

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Miami Dolphins may have seen the last of Jason Taylor in a Miami uniform a few ago against the Bengals…that is if he leaves the team or gets traded.  Should JT leave via trade or other means, the Pro-Bowl was to be his swan song…that last opportunity to see him wearing the Aqua and Orange.  Now, that will not happen as he has officially pulled out of the game due to an injured foot.
Nursing what originally was thought to be a foot sprain, suffered in the Baltimore game, it is now a plantar fascia injury and Jason will simply [...]

Trading the Number 1 Pick

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Jeff Ireland made it clear yesterday that the number one overall pick is up for sale.
“The No. 1 pick is no different from the 22nd pick. You’ve got to make the right selection. You just can’t miss on it. We’re going to do everything in our power to make the right choices, whether it be to take the pick or move down. We’ll listen to all offers.””We’re open for business.”
So what exactly does that mean?  Exactly what he said, they want to trade out of the number 1 pick.  So let’s do what everyone else does, let’s break it down.  [...]

More Changes Than Just Coaches

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

On the surface, the Miami Dolphins have changed all but two coaches, their top scouting guy, their GM, even the VP of FO.  From top to bottom, the Phins have already had more turnover this year, than in any other year that comes to memory.  But there are more changes than just the coaches, and management.  The Dolphins have changed their image, their attitude, identitiy, and soon, they will be changing their players as well.

Zach Thomas and Other…Stuff

AUTHOR: Txmedic5 | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Senior Bowl week is in full swing, Jeff Ireland is in Mobile, Al, talking shop with anyone who wants to ask him a question or 10, Tony Sparano is in Miami trying to finish the coaching hires and formulate a plan for reparing the Miami Dolphins, and Bill Parcells is, is, well, I’m not quite sure what he is doing, but according to Ireland, he is watching the Sr. Bowl stuff on NFL Network.  So with all that being said, here is some information about Zach Thomas’ future, and other stuff going on you may have missed.
It appears that the [...]
