With the Miami Dolphins making their cuts today the 53 man roster is completed. For now. Changes will be made and might be made soon. We have covered the released players but what about the roster itself? Taking a closer look at the team might raise a few eyebrows.

The NFL will process waiver claims tonight and into tomorrow as teams begin to add players to their practice squads and fill in roster holes or find suitable solutions that are better than the bottom five on the roster. It’s a fluid process that won’t really shake out completely for a few days. Adding to that is the fact that veterans who are signed now and are on the roster opening weekend will have their salaries guaranteed for the season. It’s very likely that Miami might simply wait until next week to look that direction.

Some positions had little or no surprises or really even changes but overall the Dolphins are in a position to get better internally and that’s important. A key to the changes made today is that the Dolphins are going with youth in some places and veterans in other places. Some of those moves made sense and others maybe not so much.

Here is a position by position look at the Dolphins as they stand today.

QUARTERBACK

No surprises here. Ryan Tannehill is the starter and Matt Moore is his back-up. It would be a bit of a shock if that changed over the course of the next few days. While quarterbacks have been released league wide none stand out as a replacement for Moore, even with his poor pre-season.
