The Miami Dolphins have not received close to what they had hoped for with Dallas Thomas. Thomas has been brutally bad since his arrival in the 3rd round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Dallas Thomas – guard

2016 salary – $1.798 million

If the Dolphins decide to keep Dallas Thomas there has to be some serious concern about the individuals making the decisions on this team. Thomas was the worst rated Dolphins lineman of 2015 receiving a ProFootballFocus rank of 80 and an overall 30 score. Thomas played 1,053 snaps in 2015 and equally graded poorly in run blocking, 30, and pass blocking, 35.

Thomas was however very consistent. Unlike the rest of the offensive line, Thomas was easily the most consitent player on the offensive line. Consistent at being bad. There was no singular game that Thomas had where he was solid the entire game. There were simply plays here and there.

2015 grade – “F”

Why an “F”?

To be honest, an “F” is being nice. He shouldn’t receive a grade but that wouldn’t be fair to the players who didn’t see enough snaps or playing time to warrant a grade. Thomas needs to go and the fact he will count $1.87 million against the 2016 cap is more reason to get rid of him. The Dolphins would save all but $151,000 by releasing him. Frankly with the way he has played, he very well could be out of the NFL entirely within two years.

Thomas isn’t even a viable back-up option at this point unless he were making league minimum and even then he is too unreliable to keep on the roster.

Explaining our featured image.

When doing a USAToday image search for Dallas Thomas, nothing came up. The Dallas Mavericks did as did a myriad of other players. Considering that the play of Thomas last season was nothing short of having an overpiced mascot on the team, I felt the image should be a joke, just like the play of Thomas.

Shelley Smith

The Dolphins previously had Smith on their roster but released him. Towards the end of the season, needing depth, they brought Smith back into the fold. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2016 and recorded no snap counts. He will not receive a grade but could be added at league minimum as a back-up. That might be a stretch as Smith was not overly effective when he did play in 2014.
