The Miami Dolphins won yet another last second game as they downed the Arizona Cardinals in a rain soaked game. The news however may not be all rosey for the Dolphins.

With only minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter and the Dolphins up 21 – 9 quarterback Ryan Tannehill was hit square on the knee by Cardinals defender Calais Campbell. Tannehill was visibly shaken on the ground and limped off the field.
A short few minutes later Tannehill limped to the locker room. He would return in street clothes.
As Tannehill sat on the teams bench, his leg propped up next to him, his offensive players came by to give him hugs and words of encouragement but it was his eyes, red from what looked to be tears, that told what may be more of the story.
The Dolphins are not saying what the injury is and they likely will not until a full medical exam can be done on Monday. If initial impressions are any clue however the news doesn’t look to be good.
Miami managed to surrender the points needed to Arizona to tie the game but Matt Moore led a final drive with just over a minute left to the Cardinals one year line. Andrew Franks kicked the winning field goal with one second on the clock.
As this is being written, head coach Adam Gase told the media that Tannehill’s injury doesn’t look good.
As more and more members of the mainstream media begin making calls it does indeed appear that the Dolphins will play the rest of the season without their starting quarterback. It’s the first significant injury that Tannehill has suffered.
With the injury occurring in mid-December it’s also likely that Tannehill will not participate in any of the off-season workouts including most if not all of training camp.
As for the Dolphins post-season chances, the Dolphins moved back into the 6th seed with their win today coupled with the Denver Broncos loss. That will likely change on Monday night when the Ravens play the Patriots. A Ravens loss will put the Ravens in the 6th seed.
Miami plays the New York Jets next Saturday.
