Injury reports at the NFL level, when it comes to most teams, are becoming part of the weekly strategy.  Classifying players with “judgement call” status as to whether they are likely to play has become more and more of a cerebral part of the gamesmanship between teams.  No team is better at that than the New England Patriots.  With a team like the Pats, subterfuge and misdirection are commonplace.  The best judge of things when it comes to them is to utilize practice participation, and even that can be a mirage.  Below you’ll find the Patriots and Dolphins practice participation reports:

More from Dolphins News

New England Patriots

Did not practice:

  • Tom Brady, QB (Expected to play, reportedly returned to practice today)

Limited participation in practice:

  • Rob Gronkowski, TE
  • Christopher Jones, DT
  • Michael Buchanan, DE
  • Sealver Siliga, DT

Miami Dolphins

Full participation in practice:

  • Charles Clay, TE
  • Knowshon Moreno, RB
  • Derrick Shelby, DE
  • Caleb Sturgis, K

Limited participation in practice:

  • Walt Aikens, S
  • Chris McCain, LB
  • Koa Misi, LB
  • Jamar Taylor, CB
  • Billy Turner, G
  • Philip Wheeler, LB

Declared “out” for Sunday:

  • Terrence Fede, DE
  • Mike Pouncey, C

The Miami Dolphins have utilized far less subterfuge on the whole over the years, so there may be clearer indication based upon their practice status.  Interestingly enough, Miami has already declared Fede as “out” for this weekend’s game.  Philip Wheeler could be the most intriguing game time decision, as he is reportedly wearing a cast on his right hand.  If Wheeler is out, and another Linebacker performs well in his spot, such as McCain or Jelani Jenkins, it may just give the fans what they’ve been looking for out of the LB position.

Fins up!
