Miami Dolphins Should Be Awarded A Super Bowl
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins have done everything the NFL has wanted them to. Upgrade the stadium? Yep, volunteer to give up a home game to play in Europe? Yep again. The city of Miami is one of four left vying for the 2019 and 2020 Super Bowls.

Along with New Orleans, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta, the Dolphins seem to be high on the list of hosting. Something they are very familiar with. Miami has hosted the Super Bowl 10 times and are currently tied with New Orleans for the most hosted by the same city or area. Los Angeles is 2nd with seven.
Of the four teams ready to go through the year long wait, yes they will not make a decision until next year, the Dolphins and Atlanta seem to have the best shot. Miami for upgrading the stadium per the NFL’s request and Atlanta due to the new stadium that is being built for the Falcons. San Francisco will host next years Super Bowl in their very new Levi Stadium. In 2017 Houston will host and then the new stadium in Minnesota will be the hosting stadium.
The NFL has deviated from the sunny weather or domed northern cities and have now opened the door for outdoor northern Super Bowls. Two Super Bowl’s ago New York hosted the game. The competition for hosting the event has increased over the years as new stadiums have gone up and more cities are wanting the opportunity to host.
In Miami owner Stephen Ross has done everything that has been asked of him including self financing the upgrades to Sun-Life Stadium. The NFL also issued a statement last year that any team interested in hosting a Super Bowl would find themselves in a better light if they volunteered to play overseas. Miami played the Raiders last season in London and will host the Jets in London this year. If the Dolphins are not awarded one of the two up-for-grabs games Ross may have something to say about it.
Of course the NFL is the NFL and they don’t really seem to care who does what. When it comes down to it, it will be which city offers the best discount and opportunity to make the league more money. That may or may not be Miami.
