Miami Dolphins Ndamukong Suh dominates day 3
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins put on pads for the first time this year as they started practice number three this morning. While the team made it clear that there was to be no heavy hitting of receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks the same can not be said about the interior lineman on both sides of the ball. That is where Ndamukong Suh comes in.

Suh had a great practice this morning as he disrupted the Dolphins offensive line on almost every play. Unfortunately he exposed the line for what they are, a unit with a lot of work to be done between now and the start of the season.
The Dolphins signed Suh this off-season to the largest contract given to a defensive lineman in NFL history and he wasted not time giving the team what they wanted. Suh lined up in nickel packages between Cameron Wake and Earl Mitchell and in non-nickle packages lined up between Olivier Vernon and Mitchell. Didn’t matter who he faced, he got through them.
At one point, according to witnesses at the practice, Suh took one step and pushed aside Billy Turner. On another play he moved Turner like he was on “ice-skates”.
We all knew that Suh would be dominant but the Dolphins offensive line do not seem to have an answer for him. He has abused Jamil Douglas, Dallas Thomas, and Billy Turner. If I’m Mike Tannenbaum I’m on the phone with the agent for Evan Mathis. Pass protection is a big issue and if Tannehill can’t stand up he won’t be able to complete passes. It’s a complete failure that the Dolphins have not fixed the offensive line in about a decade.
Other observations:
Will Davis tweaked his knee and sat out much of the practice. He was on the sidelines with an ice wrap.
WR Michael Preston continues an impressive early training camp. He has a very good shot at making the roster.
WR Kenny Still has not done much thus far.
LB Chris McCain is getting a lot of work. He is starting at outside linebacker but doing individual work with the DE’s. McCain is looking sharp at both positions.
Greg Jennings is reliable.
Matt Moore is not as sharp as he was the first two days.
McLeod Bethel-Thompson is throwing too many INT’s but is still getting more work than Josh Freeman.
Ryan Tannehill has looked sharp but has yet to connect the deep ball albeit there has been very good coverage and his passes have been close.
Caleb Sturgis missed another field goal.
Safety Michael Thomas is looking sharp and had an INT today with the 2nd team unit.
CB Jamar Taylor started as the nickel corner with Brice McCain on the outside.
Jarvis Landry is once again, Jarvis Landry
The final tape today will most definitely be the stellar defensive line play vs. a very porous offensive line.
