Miami Dolphins Cameron shines, Oline sloppy
By Brian Miller
If you follow the Miami Dolphins on Twitter or anyone who covers the Dolphins on Twitter the theme today was once again, sack, would-be-sack, sack, would-be-sack. Granted the Dolphins offensive line is facing one of the more punishing defensive fronts in the league but someone needs to step up. It really doesn’t matter what Ryan Tannehill can do if he doesn’t have time to throw the ball.

Today’s practice which is ready to wrap any minute now has been all about the defense once again. The combination of Ndamukong Suh, Cameron Wake, Olivier Vernon, Terence Fede, Earl Mitchell, and even Jordan Phillips have been almost too much for the Dolphins offensive line to handle. Not just today but the last three. Today pads were on once again as the Dolphins started their 4th practice of the 2015 training camp.
It appears that rookie Jamil Douglas is the front runner to start at left guard. While he has gotten beat the reports are favorable for him. He apparently doesn’t stop and has done some good things. The right guard position is a different story. The Dolphins today opted to put Sam Brenner in with the starters. That’s a telling story if you ask me. Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas have been close to turnstiles along the offensive line. Turner has a leg up over Thomas by all indications. I’m not certain but it sounds as if Brenner didn’t fair much better.
One player that did stand out on offense is tight-end Jordan Cameron. Cameron had a big day during red-zone drills catching at least two touchdown passes. He was also open in seam routes as well. This is good news for the Dolphins who struggled in the red-zone last season.
The running game however seems to be something that not many in attendance are talking to much about. That is a little disheartening given the expected competition in camp. Of course if the offensive line can’t block then a running game will be non-existent.
Other notes from today’s practice:
Both Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore threw back-t0-back interceptions in the teams final 11-11 drills.
Chris McCain is still looking good.
Will Davis limped off the field after an INT and subsequent fumble.
Earl Mitchell was stuffing running plays.
The Dolphins have potent edge rushers in Vernon, Fede, and Wake.
When Tannehill has time, he looks really sharp.
Jarvis Landry continues to impress.
The Dolphins will be off tomorrow.
