Brent Grimes was signed in 2006 by the Atlanta Falcons after having gone un-drafted. He was allocated to NFL Europa in 2006 and joined the team in 2007 after playing for the Hamburg Sea Devils.

His career in Atlanta lasted six seasons after the Falcons opted not re-sign the impending free agent corner. The Dolphins signed Grimes to a one year deal in 2013 after Grimes missed all of 2012 with an ACL tear.

In 2013 Grimes stormed back to make the pro-bowl and give the Dolphins one of the best cornerbacks since Sam Madison. The Dolphins signed Grimes to an extension following the season.
