Devin McCourty was the late star of the 2015 Super Bowl when he stopped Marshawn Lynch on the one yard line. A play later Malcom Butler intercepted Russell Wilson for the game sealing play.

Drafted in the first round of the 2010 draft, McCourty has become one of the Patriots playmakers in the secondary. He made his first start in 2010 at cornerback for an injured Leigh Bodden finishing his rookie season with 82 tackles, seven interceptions, one sack, and two forced fumbles.

In 2012 McCourty played more snaps, 1,329 including special teams, than any other defensive player in the NFL. He placed third overall in the NFL behind teammates Nate Solder and Ryan Wendell.

The Patriots agreed to a contract extension this past off-season, extending McCourty for another five years avoiding the possibility of losing him in free agency.
