The Miami Dolphins are entering the 2015 season with the same expectations as their fan base. Win. Not just win eight games, win whatever it takes to make the post-season. The Dolphins have finished 8-8 the last two seasons and that isn’t cutting it anymore. Not for the fans, not for the players, and not for owner Stephen Ross.

Miami has spent big the last two off-seasons. They brought in Branden Albert last year and Ndamukong Suh this past off-season. Revamping their wide-receiver were crucial and the addition of Jordan Cameron was a big move to shore up the lack of red zone touchdowns. On the surface one would think that the Dolphins need those players to step up and take them to the next level but that isn’t exactly the case. What Miami needs is for those players to play well.

What will drive Miami to success in 2015 will not be the top players on their roster but instead starters who play pivotal roles without necessarily the big name. Without contributions from these ten players the Dolphins will struggle to play after the regular season is over.

With the season only three weeks away the evaluation process is almost over. The Dolphins know who they are going into the season with. For the most part. Competition battles will still play out over the next two pre-season games and those games will decide many of the bottom 10 to 15 roster spots. Right now, a lot of what goes on in practice and exhibition is finding the players who can start, deserve to start, and are making the most of their opportunities when faced with the challenge.

The Dolphins most certainly are concerned about some of their depth but at this point it really isn’t an issue. Why? Simple, if one of the depth players are thrust into a starting role, they won’t be lining up with every other person deep on the depth chart.

When the season gets into the swing of things, say midway through as the Dolphins begin to face their toughest opponents, ten players will need to be at their best. Click “NEXT” to start the slideshow.
