ALFRED MORRIS

If the Washington Redskins have talent in one place it’s at running back. In 2012 the team selected Morris in the 6th round. He rewarded the team with over 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns. This while rotating early in the season with other running backs. Many believed that 2013 saw a drop in production. Morris only put up 1,275 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2014 his production dropped to 1,074 yards and eight touchdowns.

Morris is projected to run again this year for over 1,000 yards but he will open the season against one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL. The Dolphins front four of Cameron Wake, Earl Mitchell, Ndamukong Suh, and Olivier Vernon are as good as they come. Last year the Dolphins defensive line was one of the worst in the NFL and of those four only Suh is new to the bunch. Mitchell has been outstanding in training camp and it looks as though the combination of Suh and Mitchell is going to provide the Dolphins with a very good run defense.

The Dolphins linebackers need to be ready as well as the Dolphins front will create opportunities for the linebackers to make plays.

Morris is a very good running back but his success is 100% dictated by the play of the offensive line. If the line can give him room he can hit the holes, even the small ones. Morris isn’t a speed back but he is quick enough and fast enough to make players miss and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder and drive over defenders. One area that Morris is not effective is the passing game. In his three seasons thus far Morris has only had 310 yards receiving.
