Miami Dolphins Redskins watch: RT Morgan Moses
By Brian Miller
Morgan Moses of the Washington Redskins is going to have a tough day against the Miami Dolphins. A very tough day. Right guard Brandon Scherff isn’t going to have a better one. When the Dolphins take the field on Sunday, Moses, a 3rd round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft will face the daunting task of stopping outside pass rusher Cameron Wake.

- 4 offensive tackles Miami Dolphins could draft at 51
- Miami Dolphins don’t need CB help but these 5 could be available at 51
- 4 players that could replace Wilkins if Miami Dolphins don’t re-sign him

- The Miami Dolphins should not take a running back in the draft
Wake is hard enough to stop but making matters harder on Moses will be the fact that he will not get help from the inside. In fact he likely won’t get help from anyone. Rookie Brandon Scherff is about to get a big introduction to NFL football. He will be tasked to stop Ndamukong Suh. For the most part, alone.
The Redskins biggest challenge on Sunday will be to poke holes and plug holes in a defensive unit that is expected to be brutal. Moses one on one with Wake. Scherff either one on one with Suh or gaining help from the center which then leaves Earl Mitchell one on one with Shaun Lauvau and Oliver Vernon facing off against very talented left tackle Trent Williams.
The Dolphins front seven is an imposing force. The Redskins will need to use quick passes and their fullback to help stave off the Dolphins blitzing defensive front. I would suspect that the Redskins will use a two back set with the fullback and Alfred Morris while also likely using tight ends to help off-set the rush of Cameorn Wake allowing Moses to block down on Suh. That leaves only two maybe three receivers.
If I’m Washington I am going to feed off the Dolphins speed blitzes and use screens to slow them down. Tight end screens will work well but screens to the running back are getting harder to pul off given Cameron Wake’s adjustments and read recognition improvements.
The right side of the Redskins line is going to be one of the biggest keys to this weeks game. For the Redskins to succeed they need to stop the Dolphins defensive front and that will be no easy task. It will fall on the shoulders of a 2nd year player and a rookie and for the record, Moses has one career start since joining the NFL. Yes, it’s going to be a tough day for the right side of the Redskins line.
