The Miami Dolphins have Joe Philbin leading their team right now and if you are like me, you haven’t ruled out the thought in your head that he could be looking for a new job at the end of the season. It’s early I know but it’s never too early to start planning! As my wife likes to say two days after Christmas, “it’s never too early to start shopping for deals”!

More from Dolphins News

There are two types of people that are going to read this. One, those readers who have pondered this very topic in their own heads since last weeks joke in Jacksonville. The 2nd, those who are simply shaking their heads asking what the hell is up with this so-called Miami Dolphins fan. The latter is reading this for a chuckle, the former is reading it out of hope and desperation. I’m writing this because frankly, the subject amuses me.

Joe Philbin has led the team to seasons of 7-9, 8-8, and 8-8 and 2016 is up in the air and anyone’s guess. Maybe the Dolphins plan this year is to start slow and then finish strong doing the exact opposite of what they have done in years past. Wouldn’t that be a hoot of a final stretch!

It’s possible. No really it is. No kidding. Think about it for a second, in a real world would the Dolphins have lost to Jacksonville last week? Hell no, no one would have so we are living in somewhat of a dream world and because of that state of mind, we can take a few early week three liberties and wonder out loud what might happen if the man in charge decides to move in another direction.

It’s completely fair. In my own warped sense of humor.

Look, I like Joe Philbin and I hate having to predicate anything negative about him with that comment. He is a really nice guy and frankly, if this team were better built in terms of it’s history, we might see a different product on the field but this team has been built around what Philbin wants and we simply are not seeing enough to believe he is taking the team in the right direction. I know this was three seasons ago but it still bothers me when I think of Jeff Ireland asking Philbin about a player and Philbin simply saying, “I don’t know, what do you think?”.

I think, Joe Philbin is a little behind the curve on being a head coach. Too simplistic, not very creative, and a little too nice. Here are five coaches that I would take a strong look at if I were Stephen Ross…at the end of the year. Sorry folks, not right now.
