Dolphins swept by Jets

The Miami Dolphins have been swept by the Buffalo Bills and today managed to not show up. Instead, they simply moved their feet off the carpet so the New York Jets could sweep underneath them.

The Dolphins managed to put up 20 points on the day but two of the touchdowns came in mop up time late in the game when the game was already over. The Jets put up their highest score of the season, posting 38 on the Dolphins. The loss was more lopsided than the loss to New York in London that cost Joe Philbin his job.

Miami managed to hang around allowing the Jets only seven points in the 98% of the first half before giving up a late 2nd quarter touchdown to go down by 14 as they headed to the locker room. For the Dolphins, Brandon Marshall was the big killer.

Marshall, covered by Brent Grimes today, posted nine receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns. The Dolphins had little answer to the Jets passing game allowing the Jets 277 yards through the air. On the ground, Miami gave up over 130 yards most of those coming in the 2nd half.

While the Dolphins defense simply couldn’t get it going in the 2nd half, the Dolphins offense was again stagnant the entire game until it didn’t matter. Ryan Tannehill threw for over 350 yards and three touchdowns and one interception but those yards came in the 4th quarter when the game was well out of hand. On the ground? Miami had no running game. The Dolphins ran the ball nine times, one to Jarvis Landry for a total of 12 yards.

12 YARDS.

The Dolphins drop to 4-7 on the season and are now playing for nothing more than draft position. Next week they will face the Baltimore Ravens in Miami but any chance the team had for a season recovery ended this afternoon.
