The Miami Dolphins continue their coaching search looking for a full-time replacement for Joe Philbin. Today marks the 5th day of that search and here is an update on what is going on, that we know of.

More from Dolphins News

Today the Dolphins will conduct two interviews. The first will be with interim head coach Dan Campbell and the 2nd with Doug Marrone.

Mike Shanahan – Shanahan’s interview with the Dolphins was completed on Tuesday. There has been no word as to whether the team will conduct a 2nd, or a 3rd if you count the December meeting the club had unofficially with him.

Tom Coughlin – There have been no rumors of the Dolphins reaching out to him.

Adam Gase – Gase is the coveted target of Stephen Ross. He interviewed on Thursday and has more interviews scheduled with other teams. Reports are that the Dolphins want to have him in again and there were also reports that Miami is indeed hoping to extend an offer. Rumors flew yesterday that the Dolphins had indeed offered him the job but those were unsubstantiated.

Anthony Lynn – An extreme long shot, Lynn interviewed on Wednesday for the job. The Bill running back coach will also interview for other head coaching vacancies.

Teryl Austin – Austin completed his interview on Tuesday with the team. No word on how that interview went and there have been no rumors of the Dolphins looking for a 2nd interview.

Hue Jackson – The Dolphins are one of three teams scheduled to meet with Jackson in Cincinnati following this weekends playoff game. Jackson is rumored to not be a top target of the Dolphins.

Lovie Smith – Despite his surprise firing on Wednesday, the Dolphins are not expected to pursue him.

Mike Smith – Smith was the first person to interview with the Dolphins. His interview happened on Monday and since then it’s been very quiet in terms of that meeting. The interview reportedly did not include a face to face with Stephen Ross.

Mike Shula – Shula has denied all requests for interviews until after the playoffs have concluded. This will likely hurt his chances at advancing.

Chip Kelly – Kelly met with the 49’ers on Thursday and is not scheduled to meet with the Dolphins. Miami is said to be looking for a coach who will not want control over personnel.

Matt Patricia & Josh McDaniels – Dolphins have requested and have been given permission to interview both Patriot coordinators. As of today nothing has been scheduled and there is no word that either will accept the invitation.

Dirk Koetter – Dolphins reached out to Tampa to request permission to interview the Buc’s offensive coordinator. The Buc’s shortly thereafter fired Lovie Smith. It’s speculated that Koetter is their top choice for head coach.

Someone to watch

Mike McCarthy – There is a slow simmering rumor that if the Packers lose this weekend, McCarthy may be let go. While there has been no indication via rumor or other that Miami would be interested, that could change if McCarthy is indeed fired on Monday.
