Dolphins to appear on both Pro-Bowl teams
By Brian Miller
The Pro-Bowl is this weekend if anyone really cares. The game has become a sideshow in recent years if that was possible over the years prior to that. Last night the NFL held their “draft” for the game and assigned players based on that draft. The Miami Dolphins will have players on both sides of the field.

The NFL no longer assigns players based on conference affiliation so now, players who play for the same team can line up against each other in the annual meaningless game. Which is exactly what happened on Wednesday night when the teams were decided.
Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice are the captains of each team and they divided up the players. Rice will employ wide-receiver Jarvis Landry and corner back Brent Grimes while Irvin drafted Branden Albert and Reshad Jones. Mike Pouncey pulled out of the game with an injury.
If there is any fun to all of this it’s the fact that Landry will line up with his best friend Odell Beckham, Jr. who also is on Rice’s team.
Five of the six voted in quarterbacks pulled out of the game forcing the league to put players like Tyron Taylor, Jameis Winston, Derek Carr, and Teddy Bridgewater on the rosters. 14 players voted in were also replaced because they are on the Denver and Panther squads who play a week later in the Super Bowl. In other words, the Pro-Bowl is considerably watered down. Again.
For what it’s worth, which isn’t likely very much, Reshad Jones was Irvin’s 18th of 24 picks made on Wednesday night. Brandon Albert was selected as part of a Tuesday night pre-assigned draft. Albert was taken 2nd by Irvin. Jarvis Landry was the 3rd player taken on Jerry Rice’s team with Brent Grimes selected 12.
The draft was held at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii at one of the bases military hangers. Players mingled with the serviceman throughout the draft and festivities.
