5 Dolphins defenders who disappointed in 2015
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins didn’t look very good early on in 2015. The defense was a mess and eventually, four weeks into the season, the Dolphins fired defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle. While the Dolphins didn’t play well enough to make-up for the poor start they got better after Coyle left. Five players however stood out as the most disappointing of the unit.

Jamar Taylor
Jamar Taylor was supposed to make big strides entering the 2015 season and it became clear prior to week one that those strides were not going to be realized, at best until later in the season. Taylor played so badly during the pre-season and throughout training camp that the Dolphins had little choice to move inside coverage corner Brice McCain to the edge where he hasn’t been known to play well.
And that is exactly what happened. With McCain on the edge, the Dolphins rotated Taylor inside to cover the slot and middle of the field and there Taylor struggled recognizing routes and was unable to keep up with the slot receivers and tight ends. Eventually, Taylor was moved back outside and McCain inside. McCain improved his play but Taylor flopped. By the last month of the season Taylor was being designated as a healthy scratch on game days.
Taylor’s future with the Dolphins is in doubt as it should be. He simply hasn’t come close to the value of the 2nd round pick Miami invested in him. His play in 2015 was erratic and his impact on the field was negligible at best. With the expectations for Taylor rising prior to the start of the Dolphins training camp, it’s easy to see why he was so disappointing. Unable to make consistent plays in coverage and eventually unable to stay on the active game day roster.
