New Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase has been lauded around the NFL as one of the up and coming head football coaches. This past weekend, he got an endorsement from musician Melissa Etheridge as well.

This past weekend the Dolphins held their annual cancer fight ride and capped the once again successful event with a concert by Etheridge and Sheryl Crow.

Gase met Etheridge back stage prior to the concert according to Hal Habib of the PalmBeachPost. It was apparently an informal meeting on her tour bus. As Gase would describe it, Etheridge was practicing ahead of the show.

"“I go back on the tour bus and she’s plugged in. She starts playing. She goes, ‘You play at all?’ I go, ‘A little bit.’“A little nervousness is coming over me, like, ‘Please don’t ask me to play. Please don’t ask me to play.’“She goes, ‘Well, hey, let’s plug in.’“We start messing around a little bit, as far as trying to jam a little bit.”"

Gase would later describe his “jam session” as Etheridge playing and “me making a lot of noise”.

Shortly after taking stage in front of the crowd for her show, Etheridge announced to the crowd, “Your coach is a cool guy!”. While fans won’t know if they will feel the same about Gase in another year or three years, it’s another positive vibe coming from South Florida about the man who has been tasked with turning this franchise into something better. The youngest head coach in the NFL, he is 37, will begin making his impact felt when the team opens their off-season programs in the coming months.

Earlier it was reported that guard Billy Turner has met him and came away impressed by how easy it was to talk with their new head coach. Bobby McCain also reiterated that opinion. It’s a start but there is a long way to go.
