The 2016 NFL free agency class of tight ends isn’t overly strong but as you get a little deeper there is value in some of the players. The Miami Dolphins haven’t decided if they will make tight end an off-season priority just yet.

Most of the questions surrounding the Miami Dolphins tight end situation centers on the future of Jordan Cameron. Due to make $9.5 million in 2016 it’s likely that Cameron will either be asked to restructure or released. If he is released, the Dolphins will have Jake Stoneburner, a practice squad player, and Dion Sims on the roster.

Here are five other options Miami could explore.

Jared Cook – Rams. Cook was once sought by the Miami Dolphins under Jeff Ireland but chose to follow Jeff Fisher to St. Louis. His production with the Rams was inconsistent but so was the Rams offense. Cook has talent but at 28 years old, how much does he have left?

Jeramaine Gresham – Arizona. Gresham has had some very good seasons in the NFL but like Cook is gathering the years. At 27 years old, Gresham needs to stay healthy and find a way to be more consistent. But he is a solid target.

Dwayne Allen – Colts. Allen was part of a tight end duo with the Colts that employed Coby Fleener as well. He is 26 years old and has shown an ability to make plays.

Coby Fleener – Colts. Fleener is 27 and never really developed into the player that the Colts envisioned when they drafted him in 2012 to go along with Andrew Luck. Fleener has had injury issues but has the ability and athleticism to be serviceable.

Zach Miller – Chicago. If the Dolphins are looking for a bridge tight end until either they can draft a top tight end or Jake Stoneburner matures in the NFL then Miller would be a good fit for Adam Gase who coached him last season in Chicago.
