The Miami Dolphins hosted C.J. Anderson on Thursday and signed him to a contract sheet. The Denver Broncos have five days to match the offer or Anderson will replace Lamar Miller.

More from Dolphins News

Anderson is a very good running back and possess a similar skill set to Lamar Miller who signed with the Houston Texans for around $6 million. The deal for Anderson is a four year deal worth around $4 million per season.

Adam Gase is very fond of Anderson and the feeling is mutual. Anderson told Greg Likens of TheFinsiders that Gase had a lot to do with his career success. At 24 years old, Anderson is the same age as Miller and the two careers have paralleled each other. Miller has a better yards per carry average however.

"Terms of the offer sheet were four years and $18 million, including $10 million guaranteed, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. – ESPN.com"

The contract is simple enough that Denver may opt to match the offer but the Broncos decided to use the low tender on Anderson rather than guarantee a 2nd round pick return. Tendering him at the 2nd round compensation level would have cost the Broncos another $890,000. The Dolphins are paying slightly over that.

Miami will now have to wait and see if Denver declines to match or until the five day window closes.

Thus far the Dolphins have made the following moves since the start of free agency.

"Rescinded RE Olivier Vernon’s transition tag, making him a free agent. Released CB Brent Grimes. Acquired CB Byron Maxwell, WLB Kiko Alonso, and the No. 13 overall pick in the 2016 draft from the Eagles in exchange for the No. 8 overall pick in the 2016 draft. Signed S Isa Abdul-Quddus to a three-year, $12.75 million contract. Signed OT Sam Young to a one-year, $760,000 contract. Re-signed LB James-Michael Johnson to an undisclosed contract."

The Dolphins are hosting cornerback Josh Robinson this week as well.
