There are very few things that will draw me out of a family vacation to write. It’s not easy at the in-laws. You probably know the feeling. The computer is ancient and tucked behind a cabinet. It’s unplugged, not connected to the internet, and has a couch in front of it. Then of course there is the Windows software that is two or three versions behind. So yes, apologetically it’s been quiet this week on PhinPhanatic.
The Dolphins however have given me reason to dig into said cabinet and filter through the wires laying behind said cabinet on the floor. The Miami Dolphins have signed Daniel Thomas. The same Daniel Thomas that Dolphins fans cried out for to be released. The Dolphins never did and finally, his contract simply ran out. But hey, he’s back.
The news broke on March 31st, I checked so sadly this isn’t an April Fools joke. What’s worse is that right now, Thomas may be the best available free agent runner on the market. Miami missed on Chris Johnson and C.J. Anderson and of course opted to not re-sign Lamar Miller. Earlier this week they signed veteran Isaiah Pead formerly of the Rams. The market is that dry.
When the Dolphins announced the signing I thought, maybe I should get out the computer. When I read that Greg Toler, a Colts corner-back was visiting, I almost did the same. But Daniel Thomas pushed me to that point.
In addition to Pead and Thomas, the Dolphins re-signed Spencer Paysinger. The linebacker was much better at special teams than on defense but Miami still lacks depth. The Dolphins also signed MarQuies Gray a tight end. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel which I can’t link back to because this computer won’t open the page. The signing of Daniel Thomas was made official on the Dolphins home page.
