It’s been only one day, one practice which really wasn’t a practice, but Miami Dolphins new head coach, Adam Gase is impressed nonetheless.

What can be learned from a few hours of strength and conditioning? Not a lot about a players athletic ability on a football field, but a lot can be learned about a players mental makeup. His preparedness and off-season care of himself. In other words, getting that first chance to speak one on one or one on team is important.
Today, the Dolphins spoke with coach Gase following his first day with his players. That video can be watched here.
In the video Gase talks about how impressed he was with the teams enthusiasm. Getting the players to buy into a system is big deal. It equates to play on the field. It’s safe to say that players the last few years haven’t been fully involved with supporting the previous regimes systems.
Confidence is key and now that the players have their playbooks and know what the coaches are expecting, they will have a leg up on the upcoming OTA and mini-camp practices and that should transition well into training camp.
"“The two things that we talked about was our points of emphasis are get bigger, stronger, faster, and then learn our scheme,” said Gase, who the Dolphins hired as head coach Jan. 9. “Those are our starting points. We don’t want to have 50 things we want to do. We’re focusing on those two things. It makes it real easy for our players to know exactly what we want to do. Now they have a goal moving forward over the next two weeks of what they kind of want to start doing and then when we hit that minicamp, then we’ll have a new set of goals.” While Gase is the focus now, Vance Joseph too was able to finally speak with his players and elicit his thoughts and expectations. The Dolphins haven’t spoken with him yet, but hopefully soon."
In addition to the interview with Adam Gase, Jarvis Landry assumed the role of video host and talked about what’s to come and the excitement that is surrounding the return to the Dolphins facility.
